“I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.  Your word is a lamp for my feet, and a light for my path.  Psalm 119: 11, 105

A recent article in Psychology Today titled “Psychologists Say More and More Young People are Entitled” caught my attention.  It shares some important information about our current culture.  We are probably all skeptical of articles such as this however, taken with other statistics, the article reveals some real issues among millennials.  The article states that “large numbers of young people are developing an entitlement complex”.  “The psychological trend comes from the belief that you are superior to others and are more deserving of certain things”.  Not surprisingly this form of belief has some very negative consequences including high rates of disappointment and a tendency to lash out.

What does this information reveal to us?  It reveals that millennials are struggling with many issues in our post-modern culture.  As believers, we see a glaring correlation between these struggles and Christian values.  Millennials are less likely to read or trust the Bible than any previous generation and are also less likely to attend worship services.  Now, read carefully the psychologists’ answer to the current entitlement issue.  “In order to break from this mentality, experts believe that individuals should learn to become more humble, more grateful and accept their limitations.”  Wow!  Is that not what the Bible, the book they do not read or trust, teaches?

Nothing shocks or surprises us anymore.  The answers to life’s real problems are found throughout God’s Word.  Yet, it is the very thing that younger generations are encouraged to leave behind.  It is becoming clearer every day, for those who are willing to read and listen, that the Bible is true and necessary for daily living while the worldview only leads to more problems.  It reminds me of a verse someone shared yesterday.  “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God”

(2 Corinthians 2:4). Let us pray that the blinders will be removed so that people can understand the love, mercy, and grace of our loving Lord!

                                                                                                                                We love you,
